The City Council has presented the conclusions of a study that analyzes the potential of renewable energies in the city. The study allows progress in renewable energy, taking advantage of, among other things, the rehabilitation of buildings. The study also confirms the positive impacts that have been obtained with the implementation to date of the measures of the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy. Among the data obtained, it is concluded that the photovoltaic panels installed on the roofs of residential and industrial buildings could supply approximately 45% of the electricity consumption demanded by the city’s building park with solar energy.


This work confirms the positive impacts of the measures implemented to date in the city as a result of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan. Looking ahead, the study gives clues that allow progress in renewable energy, taking advantage of, among other issues, the rehabilitation of buildings.

The delegate of Sustainable Development, technician of the area of ​​Efficiency and Energy Planning, has announced the conclusions of the study on the potential of renewable energies. This work allows an exhaustive analysis of the current energy reality of the city and marks future scenarios based on real and updated data that serve to establish specific, measurable, attainable and realistic objectives by 2030.

  • Regarding the study of the current reality of the city in terms of energy, the consumption and energy demand of the buildings of the city, and their associated impacts on economic and environmental levels have been analyzed. The real potential is the implementation of solar and biomass energy installations.

Looking ahead, several alternative scenarios have been analyzed, carrying out different interventions on the building park, distinguishing between active, passive and renewable energy measures. For each of the scenarios, an analysis of the demand and energy consumption of the buildings, as well as their derived impacts, has been carried out. From all this scenario analysis, some interesting conclusions have been glimpsed.
